Prior to production, a factory and all subcontractors must go through a rigorous audit process.  With the social audit process, A&F Co. can identify the most common findings for each category throughout the audited factory base in a consistent and transparent manner, as well as share steps being taken to address those issues.

Transparency in our audit process allows auditors to properly review wages, benefits, insurance and working hours to ensure the factory is following legal and A&F Co. Vendor Code of Conduct requirements. To improve transparency and achieve full accountability, A&F Co.’s sustainability team communicates with all vendors on A&F Co.’s transparency expectations during audits. Factories with non-transparency issue will enroll to our Remediation Program. A&F Co. will terminate relationships with vendors if no meaningful improvement is made.

Work to Address Key Findings

A&F Co. social audits conducted in 2025 identified several key findings, which were addressed with corrective actions.

One factory had an incident of sexual harassment; the perpetrator was removed and deemed ineligible for rehire, senior management oversaw a full third‑party investigation, and the factory implemented trainings for both workers and management on harassment awareness and appropriate use of grievance mechanisms.

One factory found child labor violation due to ineffective age-verification procedure. One worker was hired 24 days before reaching the legal minimum age. By the time the audit was completed the worker was no longer employed by the factory and had reached the legal minimum age. The factory immediately verified and ensure full payment to workers in accordance with legal requirement wages, completed third‑party training, and updated its hiring policies to strengthen age‑verification procedures.

One factory used migrant workers transferred improperly from a sister company; upon discovery, the factory renewed all workers’ contracts and work locations in accordance with legal requirements and completed third‑party training focused on proper employment contract practices.
