National Intern Day

Each summer, Abercrombie & Fitch Co. welcomes a new class of interns who bring fresh perspectives and big ideas to our teams. From design and merchandising to supply chain and beyond, these students dive into hands-on projects, connect with mentors and gain real-world experience that help shape their future careers. We caught up with a few of this year’s interns to hear about what they’ve been working on, what they’ve learned so far and what advice they have for future interns looking to make the most of their time at A&F Co.

Daniel S., Apparel Design
Myles M., Merchandising
Devyn G., Supply Chain & Procurement

What’s your name, where are you from, and what are you currently studying?
Daniel S.: My name is Daniel Saliba. I’m a first-generation Brazilian-American, born and raised in Miami, Florida. I’m currently studying Fashion Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.
Myles M.: I’m Myles McGee. I’m from the resilient city of Flint, Michigan and I’m studying business management at Michigan State University.
Devyn G.: My name is Devyn Growney. I am from Doylestown, Pennsylvania and I am studying Operations Management at Ohio State University.

Which team or department are you working with at A&F Co.?
Daniel S.: I’m currently working with the Abercrombie Women’s Swim and Outerwear team as an apparel design intern.
Myles M.: I’m currently working on the abercrombie kids team on the Boys Graphic Tees team.
Devyn G.: I am working on the Supply Chain Procurement team.

What year are you in school, and what is your major? How does it relate to the work you’re doing during your internship?
Daniel S.: This upcoming fall, I’ll be entering my senior year at FIT, specializing in Women’s Design with a focus on knitwear. Before starting my internship at A&F Co., I was nervous that I wouldn’t be prepared for the responsibilities of a corporate environment, especially since this is my first internship experience. But once I arrived, I quickly realized how well my coursework had prepared me. From day one of my internship, my team trusted me with meaningful tasks that aligned with my skills, and I felt right at home. My managers have given me autonomy to work independently but have also been incredibly supportive whenever I have questions.
Myles M.: I’m currently a senior studying business management at Michigan State University. My major has taught me how to understand and adapt to new and unexpected situations. I’ve also learned how to maximize collaboration between different teams. Both learnings have been invaluable to me during this internship!
Devyn G.: As a rising senior majoring in Operations Management, this internship has given me the chance to put classroom concepts into practice. Much of my coursework focuses on continuous improvement and efficiency—areas that closely align with the projects I’ve been working on at A&F Co.

Can you walk us through a project, task or case study you’ve been working on and what you’ve learned from it?
Daniel S.: One of the most valuable parts of this internship has been the summer intern project, where I was tasked with designing a mini swimwear collection. While school emphasizes creativity and concept development, this project taught me how to truly design with the customer in mind. It involved in-depth research into our target consumer — her preferences, habits and shopping behaviors — which allowed me to filter my ideas and make intentional design choices. By working specifically in the swimwear category, I also learned that less is more. I’ve always had a tendency to over-design, but working with such minimal garment structures has taught me to be more refined and focused with my detailing.
Devyn G.: I am currently working on incorporating AI into A&F Co.’s supply chain through a custom Contract Analysis Agent. This project has challenged me to step out of my comfort zone and explore tools like Power Automate and Co-Pilot Studio. I have learned how to structure prompts, test responses and think critically about how users interact with AI tools.

What has been the most exciting or unexpected part of your internship so far?
Myles M.: My favorite part of the internship so far has been building relationships within the organization. As someone who loves to meet new people, I have found the community here to be very welcoming and supportive. Whether it was a surprise chat with our CEO Fran or meeting new faces in the café, I’ve had so many great opportunities to connect with people at A&F Co.
Daniel S.: The most exciting part has been how naturally meaningful connections have formed. Meeting passionate, like-minded individuals across different teams and departments has made the transition into a new environment feel effortless. The strong sense of collaboration and support at A&F Co. has made every day feel energizing and welcoming.

How has this experience shaped or influenced your career goals?
Devyn G.: This experience has helped me better understand how my interest in operations can evolve into a long-term career. Working on automation and efficiency projects has shown me how much I enjoy solving problems and using creative strategies to make systems work better. I now have a better understanding of the direction I want to pursue in my career moving forward.
Daniel S.: This internship has been incredibly eye-opening. It’s given me insight into how cross-functional collaboration works in a real-world setting. It’s helped me better understand where I see myself in the industry and has solidified my interest in design roles that balance creativity with technical problem-solving.

What do you enjoy most about working in your specific department or team?
Myles M.: My team is incredibly driven and goal-oriented, but also supportive and kind. Every day, I look forward to taking on new tasks and learning more about our target customer, knowing I’ll be encouraged and challenged in all the right ways. I feel truly blessed to be part of this team!
Devyn G.: What I enjoy the most about working on the Supply Chain Procurement team is experiencing firsthand how much this team interacts with other parts of the business. Whether it’s with the legal team, digital and technology, or other areas within the supply chain, there are always opportunities for collaboration. On top of that, I have never met a more supportive and helpful group of people!

What advice would you give to future interns joining A&F Co.?
Daniel S.: Be open-minded and ready to soak it all in like a sponge! Ask questions, stay curious and take full advantage of your mentors’ knowledge. It shows initiative and helps you grow both personally and professionally.
Myles M.: I’d advise all interns to be hungry to learn and grow while also giving themselves grace. Retail is fast-paced and there are so many things to learn here. Also, don’t get discouraged; work hard and ask questions — you’ll be given all the tools you need to succeed!
