Latin/Hispanic Heritage Month at A&F Co.

To celebrate Latin/Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15 – Oct. 15), we spoke with associates from our Distribution Centers and Global Home Office in Columbus, Ohio, to hear their unique perspectives regarding work, life, and culture.

Adain Cruz, DTC Supervisor, explained that moving to the United States from Mexico as a teenager was a culture shock for her, though she learned quickly with the help of mentors. “I want to do the same for younger generations, for people coming to this country,” Cruz said. “I feel like I represent a lot of women, Hispanic women, who are here to learn and progress.”

Many associates spoke about how their family values have helped shape who they are and what they bring to their roles at A&F Co. “My family always reminds me of who I am and where I come from,” said Sofia Sierra, Sr. Producer, Abercrombie Photo Studio. “Being Latin, there’s a really strong sense of pride and community. I am always willing to help people, to be a part of a team.”

In addition to these heartfelt conversations with associates, Latin/Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations continued with special luncheons at our Distribution Centers, which included a delicious spread of food, colorful decor, a free library featuring books by Hispanic/Latin authors, and a special performance by Ballet Folclorico Xochihua, a Mexican folkdance group local to Columbus.

A recap of our Distribution Center luncheon can be watched here.
